Counseling Due To Election Anxiety
As a result of the elections on November 5, I have had many prospective clients reach out to me due to what they describe as stress, worry and anxiety about the future of the nation.
My counseling is strictly apolitical. My job as a therapist is to help clients better cope with their depression, anxiety, stress or other concerns. I imagine that some clients will want to talk about why they are upset regarding the election. My focus will be on therapy, not politics. I am trying to meet a pressing mental health need in the community. I am using the principles of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Client Centered/Interpersonal Therapy, Short Term Solution Focused Therapy and in cases of trauma, I use Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing.
I have detected a sense of heightened anxiety in many of my clients, with the election playing a part in their stress. Please feel free to email me if you are interested in counseling with me. I prefer email due to the fact that Monday-Friday I am generally conducting therapy sessions between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm MTN. I do listen to voicemails at the end of the work day.I am available for in person or telehealth sessions in Idaho and telehealth sessions for clients in Ohio.
